The Lunacy of Religion These Days

Thre greatest act of terrorism based on religion had to be the Crusades. For 400 years or more, the Catholic chruch sanctioned the systematic slaughter and terrorizing of the Muslims in Jerusalem for the sake of "protecting" the "holy land". 400 years of war over a strip of land and an ideal against a group that was meerly living in the space that another group from thousands of miles away thought belonged to them for some reason.

In modern society, I think Fundamental Christians are the largest terrorist group, they may not be a collective, but the groups generally have the same ideals and misconstrued notions of this country. There is a collective ideal to turn the nation into this religious ideal that each group thinks the nation was founded upon which is factually untrue. The US was founded by Deists, not Chrsitains. There is a HUGE fundamental difference between the two, one follows a regious ideal and the other follows a personal spiritual path. An example of this kind of terrorism would be the Quiverfull movement which avidly rails against higher education, schooling for girls, any use of family planning, or women's rights in anyway while avowing to be the best way to god and vowing that science is out to destroy the world.

Another example would the FLDS groups which seek to destory the country from the inside out by having as many children as possible and "milk" the system of welfare. This is a group that believes that marriage to many women, even against their will is the only way to heaven and that they must have as many children as possible. Children don't go to school and women aren't allowed many rights if any.

West Bourogh Baptist is also a group one can call a terrorist group given their systematic attacks on LGBTQ and soldier's funerals as well as many famous people such as Vince Gill and Foo Fighters for the sake of scaring people into the arms of "god".

For all these groups, religion is the soul of why they do what they do and why they torture the minds of those around them with their false and horrible ideals.

I Am

I am loud, I am brash, I speak directly and don't believe in beating around the bush. I don't sugar coat things that don't need to be.

I am an unrepentant liberal/socialist. I believe that it's no one's business, but my own what I do with my body and the same for everyone else.

I think the rich are too rich and the poor are too poor, that there needs to be a redistribution of wage and money.

I think that the rich need to be taxed at a HUGE percentage and ALL that money needs to be spent on those who need it most, with absolutely NO tax breaks for the rich or businesses.

I think rapists need to be treated like terrorists and that the focus of all crimes in the news should be on the victims and their families NOT the people who commit the crime.

I think Muslims are awesome people with a bad rep and that conservatism is the greatest threat to this country and freedom.

I believe that marriage is between consenting adults gender need not matter. I will NEVER back down from defending what I believe.

I will post what I want about my beliefs and I will never remove them. I welcome open peaceful dialogue and enjoy debate.

I will NOT tolerate hate speech nor will I allow comments that serve nothing but to inflame those around the post.

My newest beef with any form of modern Christianity

This is my newest beef with America's modern ChristianityThe "Christian" Right's lunacy no longer has any bounds. After reading each of these articles, I have been pushed further away from organized religion of any kind.

Responsibility falls disproportionately to women, who are taught to protect their “purity” and to never “tempt” their brothers in Christ to “stumble” with immodest behavior. “The lack of men’s responsibility or culpability for their own actions and the acceptance of male ‘urges’ as irresistible forces of nature is the understructure of Christian modesty movements and their secular counterpart. ~ Taken from one of the articles.

Putting all responsibility on women over sexual assault has rapidly become a tenant of modern christianity. Placing the blame on women causes men to think they are free to do what ever they choose. Women are not lesser then men, they not not born just to be mothers and be the subservient "helpmeet" of their husbands. Women are not suppose to let their husbands have sex whenever they desire, nor are they suppose to continuously be pregnant. Women are not broodmares put on this earth for the enjoyment of men.

Women are humans, they have rights, thoughts, desires, and dreams. If a man thinks like this, he needs to be removed from the gene pool, period.

just a short prayer...

My job interview is in less than 48 hours. I pray to God I get this job. He knows I need this to get my life on the proper track. I pray his will is in the path of mine and this job is my path in this next stage of my life.

Dear Men of the Church

Dear Men,

It has come to my attention that you are hard of heart, thought, and mind. You the men in the church that makes people think this church is misogynistic and has no respect for women. The church has said that abortion is ok under certain circumstances and they have never come out against birth control.

Do the church a favor and stop hiding your hatred towards the sexual health and safety of women and of women in general behind your false belief in God. Just because you think it is a woman's divine punishment when she gets raped and impregnated or when she is told she is going to die because she got pregnant doesn't mean that is what the TRUE followers of God think.

Men like you sicken me, you think your religious right and supposed moral authority gives you power over the rest of us. Well, I rebuke you and call you to repent for your attempt at unrighteous dominion.

I sincerely hope you never have a daughter so she doesn't grow up in a household that teaches her that having a voice and being willing to stand up for herself is wrong and that she should cow to any man who demands it of her. I hope any sons you may have learn that your beliefs are wrong and sinful and that they have a much larger and more open heart then you.

Sincerely,

A true believer of God and his commandments

SWEET!!!!

So I got all my grades back

All I have to say is awesome!!! I can't believe I did so well!!!!!! I was so stoked and my BF was so happy he made me a totally awesome diner of top sirloin and veggies that weekend! It was awesome!

My bankruptcy is almost over! Thank goodness! I've got one more court thing to go and I am home free. Though, this is about whether or not I have to pay the filing fee or not. I've got the income requirements and so long as they don't count my school money I should be in the clear for that as well. I'm looking forward to not having to filter calls from people I don't know that's for sure.

On the other plus side I might be getting a new car! I found a place willing to work with me if I can get a couple pieces of paper from the court. THe paper I need is just something that says when my bankruptcy will be discharged and that should be it. I seriously hope I can walk off that lot with a new car. It won't be too new though, it's a 2005 Toyota Prius for about 10 grand. I can make the months payments and so I am hoping I can do this.

Wish me luck!!!

Anger...

I think I'm beginning to feel a certain amount of hatred for my own congregation... It's hard to explain but given the ward/branch I belong in has taken all the words I have said about my ex-roommates and decided that my words aren't worth any looking into and haven't bothered to even try to see if what I had to say about them and their life style is true or not. No, they just take what that "group" has to say at face value and ignore the one person who has said something that no longer lives with them. I think seeing them at church and knowing the church is still supporting them despite the fact they are outright using the church for support of the economic means and not bothering to show up unless there is free food involved and them not suffering any repercussions has put a seed of anger and hatred in my heart. I may need to step back and walk away for a bit to let things cool down in my heart and mind. I may even walk away from a couple of things I am involved in as well within the church so that I may not have much contact with them either....

Rambles.....

I don't know why but for some reason I feel like rambling. Maybe it's because I've had a head ache for a few days, or because I over did it on food today, or because I'm really tired and should crawl into bed, but don't want to. But I do know that I've had a though going through my head for a few days now, everyone gets asked at least once in their life if they could go back and change anything, would they? Well for me at this point, my answer is: No, I wouldn't change a thing. Every ounce of pain, every tear I have shed, every drop of sweat that has fallen from my brow has helped make me who I am today. It has helped shape my life, my heart, my mind, and my soul. I would never have learned how to stand for myself, voice what I want and take what I want when I have earned it. With out that pain and suffering, I never would have learned how to savor the sweet things in life and with out those sweet things I wouldn't have anything to look forward to or remember when painful, scary, or stressful situations arise.

I've also come to the rather scary conclusion that I do truly love my boyfriend and that I do want to marry him... The reason this scares me is simple really, I don't want to fall for someone so hard and that deeply that I can become seriously hurt. What got me to come to this conclusion you ask? Well, I had a visit with my visiting teacher and she asked if the BF and I had talked of marriage. Truth be told, yes, have. It's normal in a young couple is discuss such things and it shows that we are both looking to be adult about our lives and not just "Go with the flow". I do actually want to get married again, despite the emotional pain that my first marriage was and the nightmare it became towards the end. Part of what holds me back is the fear of becoming a burden on someone again. I don't want someone else to have to take care of me after I just discovered my ability to stand on my own two feet.

Rant done for now. I may come back to this post again and add more as the time is needed.

Interesting two days

Yesterday was interesting. So was today. I've spent the last couple of days looking at and viewing videos done by Muslims and learning what I can about their faith from their perspective. It has been interesting to learn from women why they wear the Hijab and why some men who practice Islam wish to marry a woman who wears the Hijab. This is interesting given many women in the LDS church won't even give a young man the time of day if he hasn't served a mission. Though in the case of the Hijab, some men will make an exception if it is her choice not to wear one. Many women in the church won't and sadly this hurts and discourages young men who don't have the funds to go on a mission or those who have converted too late to go on one. It's saddening to see these poor Brothers in Christ turned away because of something out of their control.

I've learned so much these last couple of days, not just about Islam, but a bit about myself. Since the Sunday before last, I've had to come to terms with the fact I can't be in therapy anymore. It's going to be strange not to have someone to talk with every week about the goings on in my life that isn't actually apart of my life. But I think I may be ready. I mean, I have you my readers as a bit of therapy. It's very therapeutic to write all my inner thoughts and feelings down and know that maybe someone is reading them. Even if no one does, it's nice to write things down and keep a memory of them as well.
